My workshops are designed to support and guide ALL students. I want to make sure that every student leaves a workshop with at least one strategy or piece of information that will improve their lives, whether in the digital world or the offline world.

In relation to bullying, it affects more than the person being targeted — those being bullied, those engaging in bullying behaviour, and the students who witness bullying.

The person being bullied

The longer bullying continues, the more extensive the damage can be. Workshops explore options such as responding assertively, seeking help and reporting.

The person engaging in bullying behaviour

Students who engage in bullying behaviour also need support. Some may need help to recognise the impact their actions are having on others, while others may need help to explore the underlying factors contributing to their behaviour.

Workshops encourage pupils to reflect on their behaviour, consider the impact of their actions, identify positive choices they can make, and recognise the support available to them.

Bystanders

Many adults who were bystanders at school still carry guilt and regret because they witnessed bullying behaviour but never took action. In workshops, pupils learn practical techniques that empower them to become active upstanders.

Staff anti-bullying training

I would really encourage you to book a staff workshop to ensure maximum benefit. It is important that the whole school has a shared understanding of the messages conveyed to the pupils during student workshops. Staff need to present a united front when addressing incidents of bullying and engaging in conversations with pupils about their online world. Staff anti-bullying training strengthens this whole-school approach while also providing additional information, resources and strategies, as well as an opportunity to answer any questions staff may have.

Staff workshops focus on

  • Discussing the important points about bullying and cyber safety that arose in the student workshops.
  • Exploring additional resources and initiatives to further support the content covered in the student workshops.
  • Looking at the current whole school approach to preventing bullying and responding to it and creating an action plan for the implementation of any additional beneficial strategies.
  • Raising awareness about age ratings and dangers of the digital world.

Parent workshops on bullying and cyber safety

Bridging the gap between home and school

Parent workshops help create a shared understanding between parents and schools about bullying, cyber-safety and the risks associated with certain online platforms. When parents and school staff are equipped with the same knowledge, difficult conversations become more constructive.

Understandably, it is extremely upsetting to discover that your child is experiencing bullying. On the other hand, it can be very difficult to hear that your child is engaging in bullying behaviour. Parent workshops help prepare parents for both of these challenging scenarios.

Nowadays, being a parent means navigating not only the ups and downs of a child's school life, home life and social life, but also the highs and lows of their digital life. Parent workshops help parents proactively protect and support their children, identify signs that their child may be experiencing bullying or mistreatment both online and offline, and respond appropriately if their child makes a mistake online or becomes involved in offline bullying or cyberbullying.

Before the visit

A questionnaire shapes every booking

Before visiting, a questionnaire helps establish where your school is on its anti-bullying journey, how reports are addressed, whether restorative practices are already in use and any particular cases or sensitive areas to be aware of.
